How Can You Get Rid of Cellulite and What Treatment to Choose

Almost every woman has it, but nobody wants to show it: cellulite, also known as orange peel syndrome. Until the middle of the 20th century, cellulite was actually not a problem at all. On the contrary, the natural fat deposits on the stomach, legs, and buttocks were ideal for women of the previous century.

This has completely changed nowadays, with more and more women suffering from the pressure of being cellulite-free. But how can you get rid of cellulite when methods such as diet, sports or massage do not provide the desired results?

If you are tired of looking for the perfect cellulite cure, find out that there are certain cosmetic treatments that could take care of this faster than you think.

What exactly is cellulite?

Cellulite is, first of all, a skin condition - not a disease, as many people believe. Recent studies have shown that in more than 90% of the women examined - regardless of age - cellulite occurs in a more or less pronounced form.

The reason why cellulite occurs is genetically determined fat lobes in the subcutaneous tissue, which spread with increasing age. Genetics, the female sex hormone estrogen, and water retention can also contribute to the formation of dents. Weight does not play a role: slim women can develop cellulite just like overweight women.

The development of cellulite:

• Grade 1, mild: Dimpling shows when pressure is applied to the area

• Grade 2, moderate: Dimpling is visible when standing up, but not when lying down

• Grade 3, severe: Dimpling appears when standing up and lying down

The main causes of cellulite

An interaction of hormones, body fat percentage, stress, fatty-sugary diet, lack of exercise, alcohol, and smoking are the main reasons that cause cellulite.

The more fat the cells store, the more they push themselves out through the lattice-like connective tissue. Here is why bumps and valleys appear, also known as dents.

However, cellulite is a skin condition that has more than just one cause, and certain factors influence it, including:

  • Hormones - The female estrogens help the body to build sufficient fat reserves. They accelerate the storage of fat and slow down its breakdown. This explains why cellulite occurs more frequently after puberty and during times of high estrogen levels (menstruation or pregnancy).

Estrogens and gestagens also have a positive influence on the connective tissue by strengthening it. But because the hormone production decreases the older you get, this effect disappears. The connective tissue becomes weaker and weaker with age.

  • Weight gain - When one gets overweight, the fat cells are unnaturally enlarged. The subcutaneous fatty tissue swells and swells out of the connective tissue chambers. Excess body fat, therefore, promotes cellulite. If your physical activity is extremely low, it gets worse because exercise promotes fat loss and improves blood circulation in the skin.
  • Smoking - Cigarette smoke intensifies cellulite indirectly. If you smoke, your skin is up to 40% thinner and more wrinkled due to the pollutants from the glowing stem: the thinner your skin, the more prominent the fat cells in the subcutaneous tissue.
  • Genetics - Because the genes determine the connective tissue or obesity, they play a big role in the appearance of cellulite. Some women are more prone to cellulite than others due to their genetic structure. For example, Asian women genetically have less cellulite because their connective tissue is stronger than European women.

Treatments for Cellulite

Pronounced cellulite cannot be completely eliminated with exercise and a healthy diet alone. Many women suffer from visual changes and therefore decide to undergo cosmetic treatment.

There are now a number of treatment options that can help to achieve a more even overall picture in different ways.

However, if you are looking for the best way to get rid of cellulite, keep in mind that each patient is different, which is why the treatments usually work differently for each of them.

Non-invasive methods:

The Lymphatic drainage. The lymph is a nutrient fluid and a sewage system for the connective tissue. The system becomes clogged with stress, poor nutrition, or lack of exercise. Pollutants cannot be removed, and nutrients cannot be absorbed -  lymph drainage ensures that everything flows again.

The lymph is guided into the lymph nodes with gentle and rhythmic pumping hand movements. In this way, congestion is resolved, and water can be removed by the kidneys. After about ten treatments, the orange peel should be visibly smoothed.

Endermology. Doctors first open the body's draining lymphatic system with a specially developed vacuum massage device. Then the problem areas are specifically treated: the skin is sucked in and kneaded by rollers at the same time. The patients wear special full-body suits to avoid bruising after the 45-minute treatment.

The massage increases blood circulation in adipose tissue with poor blood circulation, the proportion of oxygen increases, and the metabolism is accelerated. Fat loss should be stimulated, the connective tissue firmer, and the elasticity of the skin improved.

Initially, at least 15 to 20 applications should be necessary for this.

Ultrasound / cavitation. Can you actually get rid of cellulite with ultrasonic waves? Of course, it is a really effective method. The fat cells are set in vibration and heated by the sound waves. As a result, they break, and the lymphatic system gradually transports the destroyed cells out of the body.

With this method, you should drink a lot of water to support the lymph and kidneys in their work. Another plus point: the warmth of the ultrasound treatment stimulates the skin to produce its own collagen and tighten the treated areas.

At least four sessions are required to achieve the desired result.

Cryolipolysis. The fatty tissue is 'sucked in' with an applicator and cooled to four degrees. This causes the fat to crystallize in the cells and cause the cell walls to burst. As a result, water and fats are excreted through the body. It usually takes two to three months before you can see a result, but this is not guaranteed.

However, the results of this treatment depend very much on the stage of your cellulite. Therefore, if you have a severe degree of cellulite, it is advisable to use other methods.

Mesotherapy. This treatment relies on the destruction of fat cells using injections. Mixtures of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, homeopathic medicines, conventional medicines, and botanicals are injected under the skin, where the cellulite is strongest.

Not all combinations of substances work, but some studies have shown that adequate treatment can reduce body fat and improve the appearance of the skin. Mesotherapy is believed to break down body fat locally and increase blood flow to the affected area. Up to 15 treatments are required.

Carboxytherapy. Like mesotherapy, carboxytherapy aims to reduce fat deposits with injections. Instead of injecting the substances above, however, carbon dioxide gas is used here. During carboxytherapy, a very thin needle injects small amounts of carbon dioxide under the skin, directly into the fat cells, which causes them to burst and be eliminated.

The injected carbon dioxide is then quickly removed from the body. It's a quick procedure and requires up to 10 sessions to see initial results.

However, many dermatologists are critical of carboxytherapy and prefer to use mesotherapy to fight cellulite with the help of injections.

Invasive methods:

Liposuction. Under local anesthesia, the fatty tissue in the affected areas is removed and suctioned off with a narrow cannula. It is mostly used not only to treat cellulite but also to remove fat in general. The strong reduction in fat tissue can reduce cellulite as well.

The fat deposits enclosed between the connective tissue strands decrease significantly in volume and no longer press outwards. During the suction process, a strand of connective tissue responsible for the cellulite dents can also be severed. This treatment is particularly suitable for very pronounced cellulite, because it operates on a large area.

Fat-away syringe. Small to medium-sized fat deposits can be treated with a fat-away syringe. This procedure is minimally invasive and, through the injection of an active ingredient from the soybean, leads to the removal and excretion of fats.

This procedure is particularly suitable for women with less pronounced cellulite and, after two to three treatments, tightening and smoothing of the dents will be visible.

The Cellulaze treatment. This one is a minimally invasive therapy in which  fat cells are destroyed by a laser and the  formation of new  connective tissue is stimulated. Increases skin's natural thickness for a smoother, healthier look that lasts, and it takes only one session to treat cellulite.  However, the treatment is relatively new and is only carried out by a few doctors. For this reason, the effectiveness cannot yet be conclusively assessed.

Our treatment - The Cellulite Reduction With Profound

VIVAA offers an effective and painless way to lose fat in cellulite-relevant areas without surgery. Profound RF treatment can reduce the appearance of cellulite and dimpled skin with a 100% success rate.

Cellulite reduction with Profound is a non-surgical alternative to cellulite reduction procedures that combines radiofrequency (RF) energy with ultra-fine needles (microneedling) to renew your skin from the inside out.

The Profound treatment stimulates your body's natural regeneration process by stimulating the production of 3 building blocks of the skin: collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. These three elements create long-lasting volume and firmness for smoother skin without imperfections and uneven portions.

Profound treatment has been clinically proven to stimulate the body's natural healing process to reduce the signs of cellulite without requiring an injection of synthetic products or surgery. Among patients who tried it, 94% of them showed an improvement in cellulite appearance at three months post-treatment.

The great advantage of our Profound treatment is that it improves the appearance of the skin affected by cellulite by increasing its elasticity and tone using a technology that is neither painful nor invasive and requires a much shorter recovery period compared to surgical techniques.

Cellulite is a serious matter that, while not affecting people's health in any way, can have a serious psychic impact, especially for those who are constantly striving to get rid of it. Even slim, well-trained people may suffer from orange peel. Those who naturally have weak connective tissue will probably never get rid of them completely - not even through regular exercise.

However, that does not mean that nothing can be done about the dents.

As you have seen, there are several treatments that will answer the question 'How can you get rid of cellulite', and each of them works differently.

It is up to you to decide which one you would like to try, but not before seeking medical advice, of course.

Do men get cellulite?

YES, men get cellulite, but they are less affected by it. To put it simply, the woman's collagen fibers are deposited in parallel. Men, on the other hand, have a grid-like collagen fiber network.

The fat cell chambers of the male skin can usually not be moved during the pinch test. There are wrinkles but no dents and, therefore, no orange peel.

This is also due to the fact that men have more elastic leather skin(Corium) than women. If the pinch test shows orange peel in men, this often indicates an androgen deficit(a lack of male sex hormones).

Can exercise get rid of cellulite?

Cellulite and exercise don't completely influence each other, but with two running units per week combined with strength training, your self-confidence will first tighten and then your connective tissue.

It is advisable to add a healthy diet and adequate water intake to your physical effort. This may slowly smooth out your cellulite.

What Foods Reduces Cellulite?

It is important to supply the body with sufficient collagen, as it is the main component of connective tissue.

To reduce the appearance of your cellulite, you can try to eat foods such as eggs (increase collagen production), avocado (its glutathione flushes out toxins), grapefruits (improve blood circulation), oranges (rich in vitamin C), and salmon (rich in Omega- 3 fatty acids).
